Part 4 of 4 in the Series: The Anarchic Spirit in Literature: Four Comic Masterpieces
Join us for a book discussion led by Yale Associate Dean Mark Schenker at the Woodbridge Town Library. Our Spring Series is entitled “The Anarchic Spirit in Literature: Four Comic Masterpieces.” It will feature a survey of the conflict between the anarchic spirit and the power of convention in four comic masterpieces of world literature: Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, and Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita. Dean Schenker leads the discussion of these plays and novels as products of their times which continue to hold a timeless appeal.
Part 4 of the series will focus on Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. This is a free program, and all are welcome to join. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Copies of all works will be provided to registered participants. Please visit the Circulation Desk to register or call for more information;
